Planning an Anniversary Party in Buckingham
Most anniversary parties are booked between three and six months ahead. Summer Saturdays and December dates go first, so if you are working towards a specific date it is worth calling early. Midweek and Sunday bookings are easier to secure and usually better value.
The simplest way to start is to come and see the rooms. Our sales team will walk you through each space, talk through timings and numbers, and put together a quote while you are here. Most people arrive thinking they want one room and leave having booked a different one, which is exactly why the visit is worth the hour.
For 20 to 40 guests
The Laura Ashley Tea Room is the one people remember. Full of natural daylight, styled down to the last detail, and quiet enough that conversation actually happens across the table. It suits a long lunch, an afternoon tea, or a sit down dinner for close family. Dukes Steakhouse can also be taken privately, which works beautifully if the couple would rather have a proper meal than a party.
For 40 to 80 guests
The Mayor's Chamber gives you a handsome room with space for a top table, a bar and enough floor left over for speeches and dancing. If you want something with more character, The Cellar sits below ground with its own bar, exposed brickwork and a dance floor. It is informal, a little unexpected, and it tends to keep people in the room until the end of the night.
For 80 to 180 guests
The Ballroom, in the Old Buckingham Town Hall, is the grandest room in town. Crystal chandeliers, high ceilings and proper proportions. It seats up to 180 for a meal and holds 200 for a standing reception, so a golden wedding with the full extended family is comfortable rather than crowded. It can also be divided when you want something smaller without losing the setting.

Engagement Parties at Villiers Hotel FAQS
1. What types of anniversary parties can Villiers Hotel host?
We host anniversary celebrations of every size and style, from intimate family dinners for twenty to full golden wedding parties for 180 guests. That includes silver (25th), ruby (40th), golden (50th) and diamond (60th) wedding anniversaries, as well as engagement anniversaries and milestone celebrations for couples marking any number of years together.
2. How many guests can you seat for an anniversary party?
Our Ballroom in the Old Buckingham Town Hall seats up to 180 guests for a meal and holds 200 for a standing reception. Smaller spaces including the Mayor's Chamber, the Laura Ashley Tea Room, Dukes Steakhouse and The Cellar accommodate groups from 20 upwards.
3. Can you seat a large anniversary party for dinner all at once?
Yes. The Ballroom is laid out for full sit-down dining for up to 180 guests in a single seating, so a large anniversary party eats together rather than in shifts. This is unusual for venues of this size in north Buckinghamshire.
4. Do you create bespoke menus for anniversary celebrations?
Yes. Our kitchen team can create menus around your event rather than limiting you to a fixed format. Options include formal three-course dinners, sharing-style feasts, afternoon teas, buffets and bowl-food receptions, all prepared in-house.
5. Can guests stay overnight after the party?
Yes. Villiers Hotel has 49 en-suite bedrooms on site, so guests travelling from further afield can stay the night. Group rates are usually available for anniversary bookings, and our sales team can hold a block of rooms for your guest list.
6. Is there parking for an anniversary party at Villiers Hotel?
Yes, and it is free. We have 42 complimentary spaces on site at the hotel, with around 300 further public spaces within a three-minute walk in central Buckingham.
7. How far in advance should we book an anniversary party?
We recommend booking three to six months ahead, particularly for Saturday dates in summer and throughout December. Midweek and Sunday dates are often available at shorter notice and can also offer better value.
